Dack to school fiesta motivates students
20 Jan 2014
Galo Mall in Francistown on January 18 staged a back to school fiesta to bring students back into the school mood after the festive season.
The event organiser, Mr Goitsemodimo Mokoti said unlike in the past festive season, the back to school fiesta targeted students as a way of encouraging them to go back to school.
The event, Mr Mokoti said, had a different motive from the popular Bak2Skul entertainment event, which was associated with song and dance. During the back to school Galo mall fiesta, students were taken through the formal classroom set-up. Some were selected at random to participate in quizzes and winners were awarded with stationery in a school bag.
Students also modelled school uniforms and showcased various skills and talents they possessed besides their everyday school work. Mr Mokoti said the event was meant to inspire students who might not have taken the challenge of being students seriously to go back to school and work hard.
Due to the overwhelming feedback received from students, Mr Mokoti said they intend to hold the event annually at the beginning of every school calendar, as a way of encouraging students to forget about the festive season and to concentrate on their school work. The event was graced by students from various government and private schools in the country’s second city. ENDS
