Agric ministry refutes BMC sale

16 Jan 2014

The Ministry of Agriculture wishes to correct the record on some recent media reports that Americans want BMC for P1.6 billion.

First and foremost, we wish to assure the public that BMC is not for sale.  Furthermore, we wish to state that the Ministry of Agriculture, the  minister, assistant minister nor permanent secretary had ever been approached by the said company to persuade them to sell the BMC as the story alleges.

Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture encourages the public not to be derailed by such rumors, instead they should continue to support the BMC’s revival after its recent challenges.

The public is further assured that if anything is to be done about the BMC, the due process in government will be followed before any decision is made. The ministry wishes to express its disappointment with such reports, which were published notwithstanding the fact that the assistant minister told them that there was nothing of selling BMC.

The ministry further requests that the Weekendpost, which published the article, should apologise for this misinformation and give this response the prominence it gave to the article.  Ends
