Australian-based mineral exploring giant, Belararox has acquired part of the Kalahari Cooper Belt in a move that is set to offer the potential for large-scale copper mining in Botswana.
Belararox is a mineral exploration company focused on securing and developing high-value, clean-energy resources to meet the demand from technology, battery and renewable energy markets.
Belararox recently signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Kalahari Copper Belt Resources Pty Ltd which would see the company acquiring the rights to over 4 000 square kilometres of tenure across 14 prospecting licenses in the Kalahari Copper Belt.
Belararox Exploration director, Mr Jason Ward said Botswana had great prosperctivity, adding that the projects acquired were in the right geological setting to host copper and silver mineralisation.
“Through the acquisition, Belararox now has another copper project in another world-class mineral rich area,” he said, adding that the Kalahari Copper Belt hosted several significant deposits and that they believed there was more to discover.
He said they had devised a cost-effective exploration strategy that would reduce the search area by using regional geophysics programmes and subsequently drilling to validate. He noted that they had already identified numerous promising targets that would undergo thorough exploration as part of an extensive programme led by an experienced Belararox team and technical consultants.
The Kalahari Copper Belt Project encompasses a substantial tenement package covering favourable and structural settings within a sediment and offers significant potential for large-scale copper discoveries.
The project consists of 14 exploration licenses covering highly prospective geology known to host several world-class, sediment-hosted copper-silver deposits.
Motheo and Boseto mines, owned by Sandfire Resources and Khoemacau respectively, are in the exploration licenses.
The Khoemacau operation, with its satellite deposits, are located 30km along the project licenses. Ends
