The public relations officer of Palapye-based Motlakase football club, Abel Lebopo says he is confident that the team will stay within the top eight bracket of the be Mobile Premier League for the remaining part of the season.
Lebopo said in an interview that they were still keeping the bulk of the squad they were using during the league’s first round.
“Our intension is to bolster the current squad we have and at the moment we have acquired the services of our former top man Ronald Kefilwe who was playing in Slovakia last season.”
He further said they were still trying to lure Tafic’s first choice goal minder, Abednico Morapedi into their stable as well as signing another top man who was a foreigner but could not divulge his name.
Lebopo said the boys were fired up and had every reason to believe that they could even challenge for the championship because only seven points separated them from the log leaders.
He noted that they were looking forward to collecting maximum points over the weekend against their rivals Miscellaneous. Meanwhile, Miscellaneous who were described as the giant killers in the first round after they humiliated the likes of Extension Gunners and Mochudi Center Chiefs were under pressure from other clubs who were reportedly showing interest in some of their key players.
Tse Nala spokesperson, Mosa Morapedi said their star player in Segolame Boy had since gone awol and was reported to be at Orapa United. He said though Orapa United had written them a letter requesting to talk to the player, they went ahead and negotiated with him before they could even give them the response.
Morapedi said they might seek intervention from Botswana Football Association (BFA) because the player still had five months left on his contract adding that Orapa United had the option to buy him out of his contract.
He said the other player who might go to Orapa United was Tony Selala while Onalenna Moalosi was on his way back to his team, Nico United after being on loan with them.
He was, however, optimistic that they would acquire the services of two foreign players, a striker and attacking midfielder.
In the first round, Miscellaneous succumbed to Chouka’s 3-2 and Morapedi was adamant that they would reverse the score line in a derby to be played in Palapye at Swallows grounds on Saturday (January11). ENDS
