Tamog Tours and Safari Company has been commended for showing commitment towards uplifting the living standards of the less fortunate in the society.
The company which operates Mogogelo Camp and leased some area in NG32, a concession under the custody of Sankoyo Tshwaragano Management Community Trust (STMCT) donated houses to three elderly persons and full school uniforms to ten pupils of Sankoyo Primary School worth over P160 000 in total.
Residents of Sankoyo hailed the company during the handing over of the donation on Wednesday saying the donation would indeed restore dignity among the beneficiaries as they would have a proper shelter over their heads while the pupils would regain confidence.
One of the residents, Ms Pontsho Ndozi appreciated that since the company started operating in their area in 2018, it has housed eight people noting that shelter was a fundamental right of every person. Some of the beneficiaries, she said, had been suffering without proper shelter but they would now sleep peacefully as they own decent houses.
“We really appreciate your efforts in transforming the lives of the villagers. Your good deeds can be seen by all and we pray for your business to grow and make better profits and continue making a positive impact in the society,” she added.
Kgosi Gokgatlhang Moalosi said the donation signified good heartedness, noting that when the company signed the memorandum of understanding with the local trust, it listed all the activities it would undertake under its social corporate responsibility initiative and acknowledged that it had been delivering its promises in all the years.
The company, he said, even exceed expectations citing that it promised to construct one house every year but it has been delivering two houses in the previous years while this year, it handed over three and increased number of pupils receiving uniforms, something which, he said, was testament that the company was committed to impact positively on the community and drive developmental projects.
In 2022, the company, he said also volunteered to renovate the local clinic to the tuned of P12 000 following reports that the facility was experiencing failing ceilings and smell of bats which had engulfed the roofing.
“This is a clear indication that citizen owned companies are capable of driving community empowerment and rural development through shared profit. We thank our trust for making a wise decision to partner with Tamog Safari,” he added.
STMCT chairperson, Mr Kenosi Mbwe, said their partnership with the company had been bearing fruits citing that they were reaping economic benefits as a result of the implementation of the Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) Programme. Communities used their CBNRM income for social projects, community development and support to the aged and the needy.
The community, he said, were proud of enjoying the benefits of the programme and thanked the company for being at the helm in collaboration with the trust.
Mr Mbwe said the company was not only delivering on community projects but it had also created employment opportunities for the locals noting that they were expecting more developmental projects as the trust would soon hand over 56 electrified houses to some members of the community.
The Director of Tamog Safari, Mr Mogomotsi Motlapele, said as a local operator, he was obliged to empower the community as promised and thanked the community for giving him the opportunity to operate in their area.
Sankoyo trust, he said, had been an example in implementing CBNRM programme and had changed the lives of its community. He also appreciated that the trust had a vision towards investment.
Mr Motlapele said the community had been supportive, as during COVID-19, they listened to his plea as business was not making profits but promised to do more going forward until he reaches the agreed target. Ends
