Rapid incubation cultivates business culture

12 Dec 2013

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) has developed yet another strategy to fight poverty and unemployment.

In an interview with Francistown Incubator manager, Mr Moiseraela Ramatebele, the Rapid Incubator programme takes three months where LEA targets out of school and unemployed people to expose them to different types of projects, he said.

Mr Ramatebele said the project is aimed at cultivating entrepreneurship in Botswana, empowering people with business practical skills and to improve the business environment in the country.

He said the concept is viable in Botswana and that it would enhance effectiveness in the youth projects as well turns them into employable people. Mr Ramatebele stated that a set of practical training for individuals would be provided so as to create business skills that they would invest in.

He said the idea is for them to choose from the many available projects and then settle for one project that is viable, profitable and sustainable and one that fits well with them to be able to produce and make a living out of. He also said participants are able or allowed to do as many as possible projects within that three months period.

Regarding funding, Mr Ramatebele said currently there is nothing yet but, they are hoping to have some in the next financial year to start the Rapid Incubation Project.

Mr Ramatebele also sad LEA does not have arranged projects but, they would be initiated by people, adding that projects such as making socks, candle projects could be initiated as long as the participants have conducted market research. ENDS
