Seretse hails BCL financial wellness campaign
11 Dec 2013
BCL’s financial wellness dimension programme has been hailed for providing employees with education for establishing financial goals.
The Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Vincent Seretse said this during the launch of the organisation’s financial wellness campaign held at Makhubu Club in Selebi Phikwe on December 7. The initiative, he said, focuses on aiding employees to manage their money, promote positive financial behaviour and encourage employees to save their resources to positively influence their lives and future.
Mr Seretse said financial wellness was not about having plenty of money and large bank balances, but about decision making to help an individual on building awareness of their financial situation. He called upon all BCL employees and management to embrace the programme as it stands to benefit both employees and the company.
He commended BCL mine for having brought the financial wellness initiative into their annual programme, saying it was rather unusual among many companies and that most companies focus on physical wellness. “BCL mine has set aside the month of December every year as a wellness month and selects a specific dimension of wellness to engage employees through a campaign, and I commend BCL for introducing the financial wellness programme this year,” he said.
For his part, BCL acting general manager, Mr David Keitshokile thanked financial institutions such as Barclays Bank, Botswana Savings Bank and Botswana Building Society and all players who partnered with BCL to make the launch a success. Ends
