Public officers should unite

04 Dec 2023

To deliver quality service to communities, public servants must unite and support each other, Charleshill District Council chairperson, Mr Patrick Gaebuse, implored.

Speaking during the first chairman's ball in Charleshill on Friday, Mr Gaebuse said the event was a welcome development, and serves as a platform to interact with other local authorities from neighbouring districts to deliberate and ponder on issues that could affect development planning processes in their areas.

He said it would give them an opportunity to devise strategies that would enable them plan and distribute their developments accordingly.

He said the district has the potential for a wide range of economic opportunities that needed to be tapped into within a blink of an eye.

He called for partnerships from different stakeholders to enable the council to achieve its dream to turn the district into a centre of excellence. He implored employees to be part of the dream by being focused and committed.

He added that they should adopt new ways of promoting service delivery, by digitising their services.

On other issues, he implored employees to embrace the mindset change concept and strive hard to be the champions of the concept.

In his closing, Nominated Councillor, Mr Thato Tshweneyagae, applauded the leadership of Charleshill District Council, whom he said had proven themselves to be an asset to the council.

He said through the council chairperson's visionary leadership and a united front from employees, they would go a long way in achieving their dream of promoting their district to be a force to be reckoned with.

Mr Tshweneyagae also pleaded for support from all village leadership and communities for the council to live its vision. Ends
