Motokwe primary receives sporting equipment

03 Feb 2013

Motokwe Primary School has received some sporting equipment courtesy of The King’s Foundation, the Philadelphia school district and the family of Neo Murphy, a Peace Corps volunteer at the school.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the school head, Mojaboswa Monnane was hopeful that the equipment would assist in improving the performance in that it catered for different sporting codes, some of which students have never played before.

He said the equipment would raise the sporting morale in the school because students would be eager to experiment with the equipment. The donation includes balls for football, netball, volleyball as well as basketball.

It also includes some playing ground which Monnane was adamant would inspire children to look forward to coming to school every day, particularly those in lower streams. He commended donors, particularly Murphy for spearheading the project.

A King’s Foundation representative, Oliver Muchazviona said the foundation started in Botswana in 2002 with a focus on sporting activities.

“Nowadays, our activities have gone beyond just sport. We conduct life skills workshops, HIV/AIDS talks, talk to students about importance of education and even teach about the Holy Bible,” he said.

Muchazviona appealed to teachers to fully utilise the equipment.  ENDS
