Education cornerstone of societal growthprogress

An educated society has the prospects to advance their families and society in various ways. It plays a crucial role in shaping individuals and empowering communities to thrive
This was said by MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe during Independence Day celebrations in Letlhakane on Saturday.
Mr Lelatisitswe said people faced difficulties in their professional and personal lives, and therefore, their ability to make rational and informed decisions was determined by their level of education and self-awareness. He said for one to survive in a competitive world, they needed education as a torch that led the way because a modern, developed and industrialised world ran on the wheels of education.
“Education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world,” said Mr Lelatisistswe, adding that education moulded people into competent leaders not only with knowledge, but on how to lead with emotions and true values. He remembered that growing up, housing units were only traditional huts in Letlhakane, but now the village had undergone significant transformation since independence in 1966.
Mr Lelatisitswe said while celebrating independence, residents should also celebrate the upgrading of Boteti sub district to a fully-fledged district.
Kgosi Barontshi Kegapetswe of Letlhakane said empowerment played a pivotal role in helping people to achieve personal freedom by fostering a sense of ownership, self-confidence and motivation. Empowerment he said was about giving people the tools, resources and confidence to take control of their own lives and making the best decisions for themselves.
It is about breaking free from societal constraints, overcoming obstacles and realising full potential, Kgosi Kegapetswe said and challenged all to really understand what it meant to be a fully-fledged district. Quite often he said the people of Letlhakane had a tendency of referring to their kgotla as GaMmangwato kgotla because they had no sense of self recognition. He implored the residents to change how they have been doing and looking at things.
Kgosi Kegapetswe said Letlhakane residents especially failed to attend Independence Day celebrations and other village came in numbers. ENDS
