“Trusts contribute to social cohesion by bringing together diverse groups within a community,” said Dr Letsholathebe adding that they promoted inclusivity, collaboration and sense of belonging thereby reducing social isolation and division.
Dr Letsholathebe said development trusts could attract funding and resources from various sources including government grants, philanthropy and community fund raising which could enable them to undertake projects that might be beyond the means of a community.

Trusts can enhance the community’s resilience by developing disaster preparedness plans and providing support during crisis and also invest in education and skills development by equipping residents with knowledge and abilities needed to thrive in a changing world, Dr Letsholathebe said.
He advised parents to appeal to their children to share ideas on how to improve their lives and advance their educations and also to document the history of Botswana and that of their culture and area.
The trust patron, Mr Anthony Morima said they were grateful to receive an incubator from the minister’s office and were also awaiting training with Local Enterprise Authority (LEA).
Mr Morima said the incubator would serve other nearby villages and urged community participation and involvement for the success of the trust.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Motlotlegi Khachana III of Tshesebe reminded them that Mindset Change challenged them to change behavior and the way people do things.
“Change starts with self, attitude and how one approaches things and stopping negativity,” he said, adding that mindset change was about doing things that could benefit the country and the community.
