06 Sep 2023

North West District Development Committee (DDC) members have been implored to facilitate each other and fast-track projects implementation to better the lives of the community.

North West District Council secretary, Mr Motlogelwa Thuso encouraged members to be part of the solution in improving service delivery.

Government, he said, was calling for mindset change, hence we should all do things differently, sharpen our approach when it comes to issues of service delivery and projects implementation.

It should not be business as usual but we should rather be facilitators than encumbrances,” he said.

Members were urged to refrain from working in silos but rather support each other to deliver sustainable economic growth.

As public servants, Mr Thuso said they were serving one client hence they should play their collective roles in order to deliver services better, faster and efficiently. He also urged them to ensure that all projects earmarked for the Transitional National Development Plan were implemented well on time and within budget.

For his part, North West District commissioner, Mr Thabang Waloka also urged DDC members to remain accountable and responsive to the needs of the people that they were meant to serve.

Government, he said, had entrusted them with the responsibility of delivering district priorities including eradication of poverty and improvement in the wellbeing of the communities.

“We should rally behind the country’s leadership to bring change and we can achieve that if we change our attitudes and do things differently,” he said.

Mr Waloka reiterated that as public servants, they should be at the forefront of service delivery and project implementation to positively impact on the lives ofcommunities.

Meanwhile, presenting the District Economic Development Committee report, senior economic planner, Mr Thero Ditshego revealed that the agriculture and manufacturing sectors were significantly contributing towards the reduction of import bill, an indication that people were buying locally produced goods.

Mr Ditshego also noted that the beneficiaries of the President’s bull donations were progressing well as some had already sold offspring to other farmers.

He further explained that the bulls beneficiaries were still being monitored to ensure that they produced expected results. ends
