Second leg of Nanoga Mogwebi kicks off

02 Aug 2023

Kgalagadi Breweries’ Nanoga Mogwebi retailer development programme is an invaluable programme purposed to propel recognisable advancements in entrepreneurship development, Minister for State President Mr Kabo Morwaeng has said.

Speaking during the official launch of the second training programme on Tuesday here, he said it was aligned to President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s Reset Agenda, which called on Batswana to do things differently to effect positive change.

Minister Morwaeng said the targeted focus group included bars, bottle stores and depot owners who will receive training on the basics of running successful businesses in the contemporary setup; including way to access financial services, business skills development and how to maintain and expand operations.

“The program will help create easy access for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses through increased financial literacy, enhanced knowledge and exposure to new business acumen,” he said.

Mr Morwaeng said Nanoga Mogwebi would also enable targeted entrepreneurs to share ideas, skills and experiences for improvement of their businesses.

He thanked KBL for its ideals of fair trade and people-centric corporate social responsibility, adding they were not only ploughing back, but directly empowering businesses which were employers that impacted on the lives and families of their employees.

He said the KBL initiative was in accordance with the principles of UN Global Impact where companies had committed to invest in Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) programmes.

KBL’s strategic ESG priorities included advocacy and encourage responsible drinking, sustainability and entrepreneurship, he said.

Minister Morwaeng invited KBL to take active participation in messaging and campaigns that speak to the youth and join hands with the rest of the society to fight the problem of alcohol and drug abuse.

He implored participants to take full advantage of the trainings.

Giving an overview of training program, KBL managing director, Mr Carlos Bernitt said the two-day programme covered among others basics of financial literacy, 4Ps of marketing; product, price, place and promotion, providing responsible service relating to smart drinking, and an overview of the legal and regulatory requirements of operating a liquor business in Botswana.

He said to date they had trained 300 participants from bars and bottle stores across the country.

“This year we are going to train an additional 240 bar and bottle stores owners from Molepolole, Selibe Phikwe, Kanye, Palapye, Francistown and Gaborone,” he said. Kgosi Patricia Sechele commended KBL for the training and encouraging responsible drinking. Ends
