Two perish in road accident

A middle-aged male driver of a mortuary vehicle and a female passenger lost their lives in a road accident at Sekoma junction on Tuesday morning.
According to Mabutsane police station commander, Superintendent Batani Lehuma, preliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Hilux, which was transporting a corpse from Tsabong to Lesenepole, failed to stop at the junction and hit the a Horse and Trailer truck which was coming from Kang side.
He said the two were certified dead at Jwaneng Mine Hospital after sustaining head injuries, while the third occupant, who sustained a fracture on the waist was transferred to Bokamoso Private Hospital.
“The male driver and two female passengers, who are all middle-aged, were rushed to Jwaneng Mine Hospital where it was certified that the driver and one passenger were dead after both sustained head injuries. The other passenger had a fracture on the waist and was referred to Bokamoso Private Hospital for further medical attention,” he explained.
He said the middle-aged Motswana truck driver, who is currently helping police with investigations, escaped unhurt, while the corpse was taken to Jwaneng hospital mortuary.
Consequently, Supt. Lehuma appealed to motorists to be cautious on the roads and observe road signs at all times. He also advised them to rest if fatigued, to avoid being a danger to themselves and other road users. Ends
