05 Jul 2023

Speakers at the funeral of Kgosi Kgomotso Boiditswe have described him as a friend to all, renowned pastor, mentor and father-figure.
Kgosi Boiditswe who was a member of the traditional leadership based at the Serowe main kgotla died  last Monday at the age of 65 and was  buried on Sunday.

Speakers included the chairman of Ntlo ya Dikgosi Kgosi Puso Gaborone who told mourners that during the 12-year stint as a representative of Serowe Region in Ntlo Ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Boiditswe displayed leadership qualities that benefited the nation profoundly. He said Kgosi Boiditswe served the nation diligently for three consecutive terms; from 2007 to 2009, and then from 2009 to 2014 as well as 2014 to 2019.

Kgosi Gaborone described the late Kgosi Boiditswe as a strong debater, who was not easily swayed from a position that he believed to be correct. He said Kgosi Boiditswe was a visionary leader that was ahead of his time, pointing out that the nation had lost a man of great stature.
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said Kgosi Boiditswe was a great man whose legacy would be noticed for many generations to come. He said Kgosi Boiditswe had been chosen to be Moemela Kgosi and to represent Serowe Region because he was blessed with great wisdom and unmatched leadership qualities.

Minister Autlwetse stated that during his term as MP for Serowe North, he enjoyed working with Kgosi Boiditswe and found him to be a great servant of the people and an advocate for tangible development projects. He said the late kgosi was exemplary in numerous ways, such as understanding that there was a demarcation line between bogosi and politics, adding that he shunned the idea of turning the kgotla into a party political ground as that had potential to pollute bogosi and tarnish its image.

Kgosi Boiditswe’s daughter, Ms Ikobeng Ntsima said her father was a jolly person who was a friend to all, but also believed in disciplining those who flouted rules. She said her father executed his role as a father very well, juggling family responsibilities with serving the nation. Ms Ntsima pointed out that her father was a loving parent who provided well for his children and wanted them to be the best they could be in life.

Representing the Holiness Union Church, which Kgosi Boiditswe was a member of, Pastor Oshia Ntheetsang said the late kgosi combined the role of bogosi with pastoring at the church because he was multi-skilled. He said Kgosi Boiditswe was a loving spiritual father who treated all equally, and had groomed apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.

Kgosi Boiditswe is survived by two daughters, son-in-law, a grand daughter, sister and a brother. Ends
