Statistics Botswana cleans up White City

Statistics Botswana has adopted practices that will contribute to managing natural resources in an efficient and sustainable manner.
The organisation has incorporated clean-up campaigns in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Speaking during a clean-up campaign at White City location in Gaborone recently , Statistician General Dr Burton Mguni said the campaign was a collaboration between Statistics Botswana, Sekgwa Ward Development Committee and Gaborone City Council.
Dr Mguni said cleaning and conserving the environment was in line with the country’s vision of achieving prosperity for all by 2036 as well as the Sustainable Development Goal 11, which sought for the world to have cities and human settlements that were inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
He urged White City residents to act responsibly and care for the environment.
Chairperson of Health and Education Committee, Councillor Phuthego Modise appealed to residents to take care of their environment and engage in activities aimed at keeping it clean and healthy.
Cllr Modise said the community must be engaged on environment management initiatives.
He added that a clean environment reduced pollution and helped to preserve the country’s natural resources.
The clean-up campaign was conducted under the theme: Tikologo ee Phepa Botsogo jo bo Edileng. Ends
