The Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC) multi-purpose hub in Francistown has the potential to empower the youth says assistant minister Mr Buti Billy.
Delivering a keynote address during MYSC multipurpose hub ground breaking ceremony recently, the assistant minister stated that once operational, the hub would attract a lot of business to the city.
“The hub will create employment opportunities for the youth hence fighting high rates of employment amongst the youth,” he said.
Also, the assistant minister relayed that the initiative would create an avenue for young people to explore and discover their strengths and skills.
He further said the hub would also give the youth a sense of direction, away from bad vices.
He noted the hub was a large piece of land which would allow for more services to be delivered to a larger population at the same time.
Due to the establishment of the hub, Mr Billy said, women would get the opportunity to exist independently and not depend solely on men.
Francistown South Member of Parliament, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, said the hub, which is placed along Tati river, could also be used for recreational purposes to attract visitors.
Giving welcoming remarks earlier, Francistown Deputy Mayor, Mr Lesego Kwambala thanked all the stakeholders who assisted in turning the vision into a reality.
He said the hub would be one of the leading drivers in empowering the youths and would go a long way in fighting poverty and unemployment.
Mr Kwambala applauded political leaders for their efforts to ensure that services were delivered to people.
He also encouraged the youths to maintain the momentum throughout the project so that their efforts could yield positive results. ENDS
