Khumomatlhare joins committee

Former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Boipolelo Khumomatlhare was on Friday sworn in as a new member of the Standing Committee on the Remuneration of MPs, councillors, Ntlo ya Dikgosi members and other specified officers.

When swearing him in, Minister for State President, Mr Kabo Morwaeng said he was confident that his experience as a former senior government official would greatly assist the committee.

“Having been a top civil servant for so many years means that you are well versed with government procedure and process,” he said.

“We are confident that your expertise and education will help the committee dispense its mandate freely and without any interference.”

Mr Morwaeng also said government was confident that the committee was doing its job diligently, independently and freely.

He therefore thanked Mr Khumomatlhare for accepting their plea to serve in the committee.

Mr Khumomatlhare replaces Dr Lucas Gakale, who ceased serving in the committee due to other commitments. The rest of the committee was sworn in on March 16.

Speaking on behalf of the committee chairperson, Kgosi Segale Linchwe, who is a member of the committee, appreciated the minister for responding quickly after they appealed to him that they were overwhelmed following the departure of Dr Gakale.

He described Mr Khumomatlhare as a good replacement.

“We know him as he has been a long serving civil servant before his retirement. We are also confident that his expertise would come in handy,”he said. Ends
