Semotswane Mathangwane road project starts June 19

Construction of the P675 million Semotswane/Mathangwane road will commence on June 19.
The acting Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mr Aubrey Lesaso, said this during the signing of an agreement between government and UNIK Construction Engineering in Mandunyane recently.
Mr Lesaso said the 84 kilometre road would take two years to complete, adding it encompassed construction of four bridges and access roads to Natale and Makobo.He pointed out that 40 per cent of the project works would be awarded to citizen sub-contractors.
He appealed to residents to guard supervision of the road so that it got completed within budget and on time.
Mr Lesaso also explained that the project had been delayed due to several issues such as court casess.
For his part, the Member of Parliament for Tonota, Mr Pono Moatlhodi said the project would create employment for Batswana.
He, however, was worried about the increasing rate of fatal road accidents across the country.
On other issues, he informed Mandunyane residents about the new primary school earmarked for Tonota West.
He also informed them about a new primary hospital, which would be in Tonota in the near future, adding that government would continue to bring development closer to the people.
Meanwhile, Kgosi Bokamoso Radipitse underscored the need to complete projects on time and within budget.
He explained that government was concerned about projects that were not completed on time due to lack of supervision on the side of government.
For his part, UNIK Construction Engineering project manager, Mr Yun Sun promised to complete the project on time and within budget.
He assured residents that the company would employ citizens.
Giving a vote of thanks, the Member of Parliament for Shashe West, Mr Fidelis Molao said the project would create employment for Batswana. ENDS
