The Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana has donated 3 000 blankets to the Office of the President to help relieve some community members from the hardships of the winter season.

The donation was received by the acting Minister for State President Mr Dumezweni Mthimkhulu on Friday who said it signified the long-existing strong bonds of friendship between Botswana and China that was based on mutual respect.

“This act of kindness is a sign that there are those within our communities who want to walk a distance with government and the people of Botswana,” Mr Mthimkhulu said.He assured the association that the donation would benefit the deserving members of the community.

The permanent secretary in the Ministry for State President Ms Goitsemang Morekisi said it was not the first time that the association donated blankets to the Office of the President.

She said the donation came at the right time when the winter season had just begun.

Ms Morekisi said government alone could not afford to meet all competing needs hence she appreciated the continued support from the Chinese community.

The association chairperson, Mr Chen Jianfel said it was made up of the Chinese people living in Botswana.  Ends
