Over 1000 pupils from Masokola and Khama Memorial Primary Schools recently received an assortment of merchandises donated by World Group of Companies.

The gifts included blankets, shoes, school bags, packets of sweets, foot balls, net balls and volley balls. Each pupil received one pair of school shoes, one school bag, one blanket and one packet of sweets.

Teachers of the two schools, and staff members as well as PTA committee members received one blanket each.

The two schools also received one football, one volley ball and one net ball for each class.

Speaking at the donation ceremony in Serowe on Thursday, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said his partnership with World Group of Companies started in 2014 after Serowe North constituents voted him in large numbers and the donations were a way of thanking them.

He also expressed his personal attachment to the two schools as he was once a learner in both of them.

He commended World Group of Companies for donating to pupils.

Mr Autlwetse pleaded with parents to look after their children and work with teachers to ensure that children attended school.

Chief education officer for Serowe region, Mr Othusitse Namane thanked World Group of Companies for the donations.

He said pupils who did not have proper school uniform felt out of place and some ended up absconding from school.

He emphasised having full school uniforms so that pupils could focus on learning.

Mr Namane said the donations would uplift the spirit of learners and improve academic results of the two schools. Ends
