St Josephs College introspects

23 Apr 2023

Adopting new approaches and seeking new ways will bring about change in the way St Joseph’s College conducts its business.

It was on such backdrop that HR Group chief executive officer, Mr Dave Bagwasi beseeched the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff to align to government’s transformational agenda strategy in order to do things orderly.

“We want change and our mood and character must accept the change we want. We are now here aiming to renew your motivation by getting some insights and inspiration on what change, attitude, mood and character require,” Mr Bagwasi said as he addressed the staff’s one-day retreat held in Rasesa on Thursday.

Mr Bagwasi also appealed to the school staff to have personal growth and build relations that went beyond the classroom.

He encouraged them to anticipate difficulties in their line of duty and prepare for future challenges as a way of embracing change. “We have improved results and we are happy but that is not enough. Our job is to shape our learners to produce the desired results and have a future. As per our theme of ‘reigniting excellence are we ready to do it’,  he added. Again, he encouraged the staff to rally behind the senior management team to make impactful changes to the way the school ran business.

“The duty of the senior management team is to influence the people they lead, inspire confidence and bring forth the desired results,” he said.

For her part, one of the event organisers, Ms Talane Malope said the retreat was part of the school’s empowerment programme and it was held annually to equip staff with insights and inspiration from different facilitators.

Ms Malope said the school had been performing excellently over the years and they wanted to upgrade the value of their performance.

“We are striving for excellence and better overall percentage in the coming years,” she said.

Responding to questions and comments from staff, the school’s principal, Ms Constance Male acknowledged the merits and demerits over the years.

Ms Male also engaged staff to express varying sentiments on general welfare, academic performance and career progression. ends
