Kgatleng District Council has been updated on a number of projects being undertaken by Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) in the area.
Officially opening a full council meeting in Mochudi Monday, the chairman, Mr Daniel Molokwe said WUC recently opened a customer service centre in Oodi to bring services closer to people.
He said in the coming financial year, a similar arrangement would be made for Artesia and Sikwane sub clusters.
Mr Molokwe told councillors that a bigger pipeline to supply Matebele village had been constructed.
On ongoing projects, he mentioned one to supply Artesia and Leshibitse from Masama Water Complex scheduled for completion in October.
He said bottlenecks inhibiting adequate water distribution had been identified at Mabodisa ward in Mochudi, Matebele, Modipane and Mokatse.
Regarding wastewater systems, Mr Molokwe said a P11.2 million tender for the rehabilitation of wastewater ponds was expected to be awarded this month.
The council chairman expressed concern about rampant vandalism of wastewater pump stations which he said endangered the environment through pollution from resultant spillages.
Security enhancement measures would be put in place next financial year, he said.ENDS
