Oodi gets WUC customer service centre

06 Mar 2023

The newly opened Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) customer service office in Oodi will bring about convenience by cutting travelling costs for consumers, who are currently accessing services in Mochudi.

“Other than cutting travel costs, the centre will bring services closer to the customers and potential customers in the area,” said the corporation’s head of business centre, Mr Abednigo Mooka during the opening of the centre on Friday.

He said the office, which covers the Cluster of Oodi, Matebele, Modipane, Mokatse and Dikwididi villages was aligned with WUC’s drive of easing service provision to the nation and bringing services closer to the people.

Mr Mooka said the establishment of the office was necessitated by the population of the said villages, which had grown from 8 384 in 2011 to 21 400 in 2021.

“Oodi alone has the highest population of 10 257 and total connections of 2 720 followed by Modipane with a population of 7 945 and 2 068 connections,” he said.

With its strategic location in a shopping centre in Oodi, he said the service centre would further enable customers to undertake water service activities while continuing with their regular shopping lifestyles.

Mr Mooka said WUC would continue to monitor the demand for water, and the growth of the service area to ensure alignment with the need to meet customers at their point of need when it comes to services.

The office will further provide a variety of services such as bill payment, application for services such as potable water connections, wastewater connections, move-out and move-in, credit control services and reporting of faults.

Employees will also assist customers to access online services with platforms designed to serve online clientele.

“As a corporation, we recognise that the customers of today are connected to the most recent technology,” he said. ENDS
