 Police are investigating an incident in which an 18-year-old girl was found dead in her room at a police camp at Matshwane ward in Maun.

Confirming the incident in an interview, Maun station commander, Superintendent Dennis Zilawe said they received a report from the deceased’s father on Tuesday afternoon.

He said the deceased stayed with her parents, who had left her sleeping on that fateful day.

It is alleged that when the father came back in the afternoon after dropping the deceased’s sibling from school, he was shocked to find that she was still sleeping.

Superintendent Zilawe said the father tried to wake her up but she did not respond and he informed the police who rushed her to Letsholathebe Memorial hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival.

Superintendent Zilawe said they were awaiting post-mortem to establish the cause of her death.

In another incident, Supt Zilawe said they had detained four men to assist them with investigations into the death of a 40-year-old man who was found lying motionless in a yard at Boseja ward in Maun recently.

The man, he said, was seen by the yard owners when they woke up in the morning and they alerted the police who took him to the hospital where he was  certified dead. ENDS
