Sandaka sinks Tafic

18 Nov 2013

Former Gaborone United hit man, Sageby Sandaka was the toast of a few BMC supporters who graced the Molepolole sports complex on Saturday in their game against Tafic.

The left-footed striker pulled a hat-trick to ensure his team’s 4-2 victory against. After starting the league on a poor form, Tafic have been of recent dusting themselves up with good performances which saw them crawl up the log standings, something which had their supporters anticipating a good result against BMC.

However, BMC put a polished fight to match Tafic for most of the first half, with the first goal coming on the 40th minute when Sandaka beat BMC shot-stopper Abednico Morapedi to give his side a lead into the break. Sandaka got a brace after just five minutes from the break, boosting his team’s confidence in the game.

The goal however, could be blamed

In the 73rd minute, BMC got a third through substitute, Kago Segokgo to extinguish any hopes by Tafic coming back into the game. However, Tafic pulled a goal back through the reliable Holiness Mlilo when he slotted home after picking a goal bound hot-shot from the bulky midfielder, Chakazha Pharo.

In the post-match interview, Tafic assistant coach, Newman Gaobone said it was not a good day for his team as they did not start the game well. “I cannot blame the loss on fatigue, but just that a few of my players were having a bad game.  Our midfield was not compact enough and we also have a few injuries as about four of our players like Kealeboga Molebatsi and Tafadzwa Maingire are out with injuries,” he said.

Gaobone said such injuries also contributed to their loss as it forced them to change their winning team. Tafic supporters will keep their fingers crossed that former Township Rollers coach, Darlington Dodo gets his work permit quickly.

Dodo was spotted in the stands during the game. For his part, Daniel 'Chicco' Nare of BMC said it was a good thing that his team got a win against Tafic as pressure was already mounting on them.

“We have been pulling bad results in the past games, and this win is surely a relief to us and we will be hoping for another good result in our next game away to Orapa United. Sandaka did well to pull a hat-trick, but I would like to commend the whole team though for the good performance,” he said.

Nare however, felt they gave away soft goals. He also said his midfield was suspect in the game. “Kenamile Mani is still lacking match fitness even though he is our link between the striking force, and Sandaka is also not at his level best in terms of fitness,” he said. ENDS
