Botswana Couriers has formulated a three-year strategy to transform the company into a regional player.
Briefing the media on November 15 Botswana Couriers managing director, Mr Leatile Medupe, said they were determined to be competent enough to deliver international services in logistics and freight. Such a move, he said, would do away with the perception that the company was an exclusively domestic service provider.
Apart from facing competition from about 60 companies offering the same services, the managing director cited uncertain global economy and lack of brand publicity as some of the hurdles. In a mission to turn Botswana Couriers into a regional player, Mr Medupi said the strategy encompassed optimising processes and IT infrastructure.
Having embraced automation, the company started investments on IT in the quest to speed up processes and with over 160 employees, relevance of staff and their qualifications would also be looked into, he said.
Mr Medupi cited diversification of revenue stream, restructuring of the cost base, executing value adding partnerships, development and nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and at the same time transforming the workforce as some of the mechanisms geared towards the company’s positive growth.
Botswana Couriers is 100 per cent -owned subsidiary of BotswanaPost, a government parastatal within the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Botswana Couriers and Logistics offers domestic and international courier and freight services to approximately 164 countries globally. ENDS
