Water Utilities Corporation to upgrade Tshesebe office

01 Feb 2023

Plans to resource the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) office in Tshesebe are at an advanced stage, says the Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi.

Responding to a question at  Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Mr Molebatsi said the Tshesebe WUC office would be resourced to a full-fledged office during the  2023/2024 financial year.

Mr Molebatsi said the corporation had two revenue offices at Masunga and Tsamaya  in the North East District.

He also stated that another WUC revenue office was in Sebina and therefore closer to villages in the west of the district.

“While WUC has made an attempt to open revenue offices in the district, it is important to note that bill payments can be made in any WUC customer service office across the country,” he said.

Mr Molebatsi, who was responding on behalf of the Minister of Lands and Water Affairs said the corporation had hired collection agents in different areas across the district to facilitate collections, including mobile collection services done at the village kgotla.

He stated that WUC had also adopted a digitalised customer service model which included  submission of meter readings, checking balances, requesting statements and payment of bills among others.

The objective of the digitalised services, Mr Molebatsi explained, was to promote simplified service delivery and increase access as well as bring convenience to customers in managing their water accounts.

He further said the corporation  continued to partner with other service providers such as commercial banks in an effort to increase customer pay points.

The assistant minister was responding to Kgosi Sibangani Mosojane of Mosojane who had asked the Minister of Lands and Water Affairs to state how the ministry was intending to improve the collection of water fees in the scattered villages of the North East district. ENDS
