Police in Gweta are appealing to members of the public to help them find Khulekani Sibanda, a middle-aged Zimbabwean man, who went missing on January 18.
Gweta Police Station commander, Superintendent Godfrey Mafa told BOPA on Monday, that the man was employed as a cattle herder at Tsokatshaa cattle post and his 70-year-old employer reported him missing.
Supt Mafa said Sibanda reportedly left early in the morning to look for cattle at a nearby water pond, but never returned. The employer told the police that he could not remember the clothes the missing man was wearing at the time, but said he (employer) had loaned him a shotgun. He added that Sibanda was reportedly well known in the area, having arrived there around 2005 from Cholocho in Zimbabwe.
Supt Mafa cautioned that it was against the law to loan someone a gun without notifying the police.
He said the police were in contact with their Zimbabwean counterparts to check if the missing man had not returned home. Ends
