Speed up project implementation - Lelatisitswe
10 Jan 2023
Public officers in Boteti have been implored to speed up project implementation as the Transitional National Development Plan 2023-2025 begins.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, made the call when addressing heads of department in Letlhakane on Friday.
He said the transitional plan would take two years; 2023 to 2025, hence the need for public officers to speed up project implementation.
“Project implementation was delayed by COVID-19, therefore public officers should bear in mind that 2023 is the time to pick up the pace on project delivery,” he said.
Mr Lelatisitswe, also Assistant Minister of Health, encouraged public officers to save government money when delivering projects, saying “if you save money wherever you are, you can do a lot of developments.”
He also told heads of department that the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, did not want disappointments in rural areas, saying “failure to deliver on projects would be failing him. President Masisi’s performance is dependent on that of public officers.”
He added that all projects planned for Batswana should be done according to schedule and on budget.
He said development projects scheduled for Boteti East included design and construction of internal roads and stormwater drainage, solar streetlights installation in Letlhakane, upgrading of health post in Makgaba as well as upgrading of health post in Mokubilo.
He added that projects also included maintenance of Letlhakane Primary Hospital, construction of new primary school in Letlhakane, construction of reception classes, Khwee rural electrification as well as network extensions.
“These projects are a few of those that require public officers to be fully prepared and armed for project take-off,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr Lelatisitswe said the role of a district, particularly Boteti having been declared a full district, was to allow for easy decision making.
Meanwhile, senior assistant council secretary, Mr Christopher Maramba said the council was committed to delivering projects planned for Boteti. ends
