Bye law officers patrol minimises petty crimes
29 Dec 2022
Tshane police have expressed satisfaction that they have managed to minimise petty crimes that commonly occur during festive seasons.
In an interview with BOPA, Tshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Vusimuzi Jorowe attributed the success to the multi-sectored committee that the Hukuntsi Sub-district law enforcement authorities put up for the Christmas holidays.
The committee, consisting of Botswana Police Service, Botswana Defence Force, Environmental Health, Department of Forestry and Range Resources representatives, who patrolled the area during the festive season.
Superintendent Jorowe, however, decried lack of compliance by some revellers who refused to abide by the closing times of alcohol outlets. He, however, warned that those found flouting the regulations would face the wrath of the law.
Superintendent Jorowe sent a message that the committee would continue to patrol the area, visiting drinking spots, shops and other public places to enforce the law in the upcoming New Year celebrations too. Ends
