New forensic investigators to lead investigations
19 Dec 2022
Newly qualified forensic investigators are challenged to put their skills and technique to practice to help expose and solve crimes in the community and bring justice to the victims.
The graduates, from various institutions, were trained by Rankuke Training Institute (RTI) alongside International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional Inc USA (IICFIP) and International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional– Botswana Chapter.
Consequently, they were admitted to membership of the Institute as Certified Forensic Investigation Professions (CFIP) or Certified Forensic Investigation Audit Professionals (CFIAP) at the end of their training.
Addressing the graduates on Friday, Botswana Unified Revenue Services commissioner general, Ms Jeannette Makgolo said being qualified investigators gave graduates an opportunity to unravel mysteries and hold culprits accountable.
“We are comforted that now we have an able workforce that we can count on and be empowered to take up this responsibility and make it worth it to the whole nation,” said Ms Makgolo.
She advised them not to be afraid to make mistakes, saying success was only achieved from the mistakes made.
For his part, Rankuke Training Institute director, Mr George Kiilu said it was critical that graduates built their profiles and demand for their services by approaching companies and occasionally giving free services.
“Go out there and make a mark.
Sometimes you will terribly mess up and do a horrible job, but in every failure, knowledge is gained, therefore make Botswana a better place,” he said.
Mr Kiilu advised the professionals to keep abreast with the technological and legal practices.
One of the graduates Ms Yarobi Motswaiso encouraged others not to get tired of learning, saying accumulating knowledge was like a bank saving, a very difficult journey yet very rewarding in the end.
“Make yourself different from others and go an extra mile because in the end whatever you learn also indirectly benefits other people surrounding you,” she said.
The newly qualified forensic investigators will bring about crucial services that Batswana need to curb and bring down crime as more perpetrators will be brought to justice. ENDS
