Churches pray against road accidents

19 Dec 2022

Kazungula and Kasane police stations recently organised prayers against road accidents near Chobe Farms since Kazungula is one of the areas faced with a high number of accidents.

Speaking during the event, Superintendent Phetogo Phillimon said since the beginning of this year, Kazungula police had recorded 90 road crashes, five of which were fatal.

He said the five resulted in seven fatalities, while for same period last year, they recorded 75 accidents with two resulting in three deaths.

Supt Phillimon said a lot of the accidents happened on the A33 Road between Kazungula and Nata, with wild animals involved in most.

He urged road users to be vigilant on that road as it was infested with wild animals and had a high truck traffic volume.

In his remarks, Plateau Court President, Kgosi Tshegofatso Samuka urged drivers to desist from drinking and driving.

He commended the police for coming together with churches and the community to seek God’s intervention.

Pastor Gabalape Samson of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries International said there was need to seek supernatural intervention, since road accidents continued unabated despite the numerous road safety messages shared.

Pastor Samson said there was need to seek God’s intervention, where human ability stopped, as His ability never failed.

He assured the gathering that as God promised in Matthew 18:18, he will hear their prayers. ENDS
