For primary school pupils to have knowledge about computers and embrace the use of technology in different bases there is need for a computer lab in the school, Moiyabana Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson has said.

This emerged during a village leadership and the community kgotla meeting recently, where Mr Moagisi Odigetse pleaded with the residents to offer a helping hand in establishing a computer lab at the local school.

He said even though they had made proposal for government departments to help in this project, the residents shall participate in the project implementationm. 

“The school already has computers, but there is no computer lab and such delays the pupils from accessing computers and learning computer related activities.” he said.

He mentioned that computers would benefit the pupils in that they would explore various pieces of information related to their studies and also use computers for their academic assignments. 

Mr Odigetse  said that members of Ipelegeng would be ready to assist in the project and mentioned that unemployed youth would also be hired through labour schedule as the project progresses.

He said if everyone could contribute efforts and materials and even labour, that would help fast-track the project.

For his part, Kgosi Mokapakgomo Kgomokgwana of Moiyabana advised the VDC to engage the council in all projects they envasaged. 

He said the physical planning department would be able to perform environmental assessment for the project and examine its pros and cons.

Kgosi Kgomokgwana said such a project needed to involve able bodied elders who had experience on construction for better development and progress of projects.

Regarding the development of the project, Councillor Phirintane Orakanye said residents should be patient on developments processes because there were many infrastructural projects that needed development, mentioning maintenance of the clinic fence and social worker’s office as some such projects.

The community embrace the computer lab as a noble idea to further pursue developments for the village. Ends
