Boela gae equips families with life skills

05 Dec 2022

Poor communication is one of the driving forces behind discordant personal relationships.

Ms Kgalalelo Mokgweetsi, Karowe mine community liaison officer said this at a skills training workshop for families and individuals facing different life’s challenges on Saturday.

She said the lack of effective communication skills was the reason some families did not have healthy relationships.

She said poor communication at times became the cause of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), adding that communication problems could result in families failing to resolve even minor issues resulting in them blowing out of control.

Ms Mokgweetsi said the workshop, which was organised by Boela Gae Marriage Seminar was a good initiative for mending families and bringing loved ones together.

She urged participants to strive to become better communicators as that would in turn improve their personal relationships.

Founder of Boela Gae Marriage Seminar Bishop Morategi Selapa said the organisation was concerned that some family did not enjoy peace due to differences between family members.

He said the lack of peace at family level was often a result of poor communication, hence Boela Gae sought to help mend such families through different methods such as the provision of counselling services.

Further, he noted that COVID-19 had heightened the need for counselling in the society as it impacted people negatively.

“Boela Gae offers counselling and general support to people who have been affected by COVID-19,” he said, adding that the organisation sought to dispel fear and anxiety from people.

The one-day life skills training workshop was held in Serowe under the theme: Equipping Families with Skills in line with God’s will.’’ ENDS
