Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA) Sub-council, deputy chairperson Mr Sebati Kabomo has handed over a buck to Ms Kelebemang Moshage.
Handing over the buck in Selokolela on Friday, Mr Kabomo said Ms Moshage was the rightful person to be receiving the buck, since she had taken care of the goats that she was given under the Poverty eradication Programme.
He urged Ms Moshage to continue being exemplary to other Batswana on how to efficiently make use of government programmes to better their lives.
“I hope this buck will be well looked after, as you did with the goats you received some years back. This buck will improve your breed and also benefit others in the area,” he added.
Ms Monia Mfolwe, Southern District agricultural coordinator said Ms Moshage received 12 goats through the Poverty Eradication Programme in 2016.
She explained that Ms Moshage was chosen as the beneficiary of the buck because she had shown commitment in taking care of her goats compared to other beneficiaries from the same village.
The beneficiary, she said managed to increase her flock, over the years and she had sold some to build her house in Selokolela.
A representative of Selokolela kgosi, Mr Benjamin Sedupenyane thanked the government for donating a buck to Ms Moshage.
He also applauded the agricultural officers for regular visits to farmers.
Mr Sedupenyane urged the beneficiary to take good care of the buck, noting that in so doing it would soon produce great results.
For her part, Ms Moshage thanked the government for having enrolled her into the poverty eradication programme in 2016, adding that the buck would improve her herd.
She said she had encountered challenges in her journey but never gave up.
She said her life had positively changed as she had managed to sell some and started building a house for her family.
“Ke itumetse tata,” she said, expressing her gratitude. ENDS
