The festive season is upon us, and with it comes the spirit of giving.
During this time different social groups lend a helping hand and donate to the less privileged members of the society.
Re A Belegana Social Group, recognising the importance of giving back to the community recently donated P3 000 worth of food vouchers to 10 residents of Lesetlhana ward (Goo Madisa kgotla) in Ramotswa.
The 10 beneficiaries were identified through the help of kgosana, village development committee, and social workers.
Re A Belegana Social group consists of men aged 18 years and above who share the same interest in ensuring each other’s comfort and care.
Speaking at the donation ceremony Re A Belegana Social Group coordinator Mr Madumetsa Madumetsa said the event was driven by the group’s fourth pillar or objective which emphasised assisting vulnerable members of the society.
He said though it was their first time to donate to the community since the group’s inception, they had been giving back to the community by offering carpentry services in schools by fixing chairs and tables.
The coordinator said since its establishment they had been assisting members during social events such as weddings and bereavements.
He said they realised that it was time to extend a helping hand to the community, adding that they wished to grow and be able to help not only residents of Lesetlhana ward but to also reach all residents of Ramotswa.
He said members contributed to buy the food hampers while part of the money was from the monthly subscriptions by the group members.
He said they were looking for sponsors and urged the community to assist however possible so that the group could be able to donate to more less privileged people.
Ms Bonno Ntsomeng, one of the beneficiaries thanked the Re A Belegana Social Group for the noble deed, and encouraged them to continue giving back as this gave beneficiaries dignity.
