Miss Botswana motivates pupils

Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo’s Wednesday visit to gave her an opportunity to meet Letsholathebe Primary School pupils where she gave them a motivational talk. 

 Chombo encouraged the pupils to focus and work hard to achieve their dreams.

She also advised pupils to cultivate their talents and strive to breakthrough into positive futures.   

Talking about her journey her to Miss Botswana tittle, Chombo said she had long wanted to become the queen  at a tender age and worked hard to achieve her dream.

She said she was a living testimony that hard works pays. 

“I schooled here too and by that time we were taught under trees due to shortage of classrooms. The formula to success is hard work and I encourage you to make choices that you will live with,” she stressed.

Pupils were also encouraged not to allow difficult circumstances to block their chances of success and  urged them to  surround themselves with supportive people.

“You should be courageous in everything you want to do even if things get tough. 

Don’t be afraid to build grit and do so bravely because it takes courage to try,” Chombo said.

Miss Botswana also advised pupils to show love to one another by giving, saying ‘beauty with a purpose’ was not all about the crown and pretty clothes, but it is about spreading happiness and love.

She said it challenged beauty queens to have a pretty heart, soul and make positive change in society. Chombo said she was determined to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of those coming from less privileged backgrounds.

Principal education officer, Ms Veronica Ridge thanked Miss Botswana for tracing her educational roots by visiting the school. 

“Your visit will inspire pupils to appreciate the importance of education as well as to make informed decisions on their paths into the future,” she added.

Miss Botswana also had an opportunity to address learners at her former  junior secondary school, Sedie.

Still in Maun, Chombo paid a visit to Elephant Havens Foundation as part of her profile to Miss World.

Elephant Havens is an elephant orphanage located in the outskirts of Maun. 

The foundation, which aims to become a leading voice in wildlife conservation awareness and wildlife protection envision a world in which elephants and local communities co-existing without conflict and where young orphaned elephants are saved and reintroduced into the wild.ENDS
