Inquiry on livestock rustling fruitful
23 Nov 2022
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the alleged livestock rustling in some villages in the Bobirwa constituency along the Botswana/Zimbabwe border has realised positive results.
Responding to a question in Parliament Minister for State President Kabo Morwaeng said the outcome of the commission of inquiry has been a significant reduction in incidents of cross-border livestock rustling and general cross-border crime in the area.
He also said the affected farmers in the Bobonong Constituency would be assisted with livestock and would choose from either eight artificial inseminated cows or ten female goats and one buck or ten female sheep and one ram and three female donkeys and an intact male.
Minister Morwaeng said farmers should expect the assistance as soon as the lifting of the restriction on movement of hooved animals which was imposed following the outbreak of the foot and Mouth disease is done.
He said the commission completed work and submitted its report to the President on November 30 2021 noting that a decision would be made in due course on whether to make it public or not.
Member of Parliament for Bobonong Taolo Lucas had wanted to know the outcome of the Commission of Inquiry on the alleged livestock rustling in some villages in the Bobirwa constituency and how victims of cross-border livestock theft would be assisted.
