Dirty environment health risk - official
21 Nov 2022
Members of the community recently joined hands with members of the village development committee (VDC), Ipelegeng workers and ward leadership to clean Sesoma ward in Serowe.
Speaking during the two-day exercise, Moriri VDC chairperson, Mr Teko Thokweng observed that the ward was extremely littered, especially the river areas and areas by the graveyard.
“People dump diapers, used toilet papers and sanitary waste which endangers health,” stated Mr Thokweng. He said such waste was harmful to children’s health who might play with it.
Mr Thokweng stated that rivers much be kept clean because the community used them as water sources.
He appreciated participation from the community noting it was a sign that they were also concerned.
He encouraged that they continue to cooperate with government and non-government organisations to ensure a clean environment. Ipelegeng coordinator, Mr Jonathan Tsheko said the presence of Ipelegeng employees showed that they were keen to assist the community. ends
