Botho University last week donated books and a library management system to Ghanzi Senior Secondary School.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, principal education officer, Ms Lilian Oats expressed gratitude to Botho University, saying the gift would help the country achieve the espoused knowledge-based economy.

Quoting former United Nations secretary general, Mr Kofi Annan who said ‘knowledge is power and information is liberating,’ Ms Oats urged  pupils to empower themselves with knowledge.

She also told pupils that they could never accomplish anything without reading. She also shared the sentiments of the university's vice chancellor, Ms Sheela Raja Ram that critical thinking was the foundation for excellence.

Another official from the education ministry, Ms Lehe Mhaladi said the donation would go a long in improving the lives of beneficiaries.

Another Botho University official, Mr Kgosi Saungweme told pupils that their future was dependent on the choices they made. “The choice you make should lend you in tertiary school,” Mr Saungweme said, adding that life was a function of individual choices. He urged pupils to be hungry to learn and to be focused, adding that they should develop a culture of reading. ends
