Lions clubs from Gaborone and Serowe, in partnership with Eyelight Optometrists Tlokweng, recently donated 30 chairs to Moiyabana Post Office.
The chairs will be used by the elderly, who go to the post office monthly to receive their old age pension.
Moiyabana Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson, Ms Mavis Keautule, said they sourced the chairs from Lions Club and Eyelight Optometrists to help the elderly who were sometimes forced to sit on the ground at the post office while awaiting their turn to be assisted.
Moiyabana Post Office branch manager, Ms Kalana Matoteng, thanked their benefactors for the good gesture, saying their customers would wait comfortably.
Kgosi Gosotwamang Keatshotse of Moiyabana thanked Lions Club and Eyelight Optometrists for the donation.
Meanwhile, Lions Clubs of Phakalane, Segodi, Thamaga, Greater Gaborone, Serowe and Regent Hill School Specialty Clubs in August conducted free eye, diabetes and BP screening in Moiyabana at the request of Serowe South MP, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi.
Out of the 104 who underwent eye tests, 59 were given free reading glasses, which were sponsored by Eyelight Optometrists, Tlokweng through its partnership with Lions Club of Gaborone Greater. ENDS
