Community constituency projects in Letlhakeng Sub-district are progressing well despite some being behind the schedule, council chairperson Mr Meshack Tshenyego said.
He told councilors Monday, that despite the satisfying development, the procuring entity should closely monitor projects for timely and within budget delivery.
He said projects under the 2019/20 programme allocation were almost complete except for integrated offices in Dutlwe and semi-detached LA2 houses in Serinane where the council was closely monitoring the contractor.
Mr Tshenyego said in Dutlwe, the office project was at roofing stage.
He said primary school maintenance projects were also complete except for Sesung primary where the contractor was currently on site awaiting the decision on project variation whose request had been sent to the interim oversight procurement unit.
He said for Botlhapatlou primary, the contractor failed to show up to conclude the matter with the council.
“It will now be up to the council to issue the said contractor with a termination letter after which a new contractor will be identified to complete the works which the deserted contractor left at 97 per cent completion stage.”
The chairperson further said Takatokwane primary school maintenance was progressing well and currently at 70 per cent.
Four staff houses and two classroom blocks had been completed and handed over to the client for use, he said.
Mr Tshenyego said under the electrification of primary schools, all tenders had been awarded for the electrification of Monwane, Tsetseng and Diphuduhudu primary schools with a combined budget of a little over P2 million.
He said projects under the 2017/18 programme allocation were all complete except for a guest house in Kaudwane which was at 90 per cent completion and Tsetseng cultural village pending funds for completion.
Salajwe post office which was expected to be completed within its new completion date of November 30 this year was the only one pending completion under the 2018/19 programme allocation, he said.
Mr Tshenyego said after completion the post office would be handed over to BotswanaPost as per the resolution made by the Salajwe community.
He said council was working tirelessly to ensure that all projects were completed by end of the third quarter of this financial year. ENDS
