Galeragwe urges residents to diversify plots usage

Following government’s target to allocate 100 000 plots this finacial year, most Land Boards are getting closer to reaching the goal.

 However, some  people according to Boteti district council chairperson Mr Ketshwereng Galeragwe  failed to develop their plots despite complaints about lack of land.

Speaking on Friday during the taking services to the people campaign in Mosu, Mr Galeragwe pleaded with residents to utilise their land to produce food and or livestock farming. 

He said residential plots could be used for any business opportunity, citing businesses such as dry cleaning.

 Further, he implored mosu populace who came to the event  to  share with others the available government programmes.  “Let the information that you will get be the tool that you will employ to empower your relatives during the coming Christmas holidays,” he said.

Mr Galeragwe said the objective was to drive Vision 2036 pillar talking to “Achieving Prosperity for all,” which aimed to transform Batswana from an upper – middle income economy to a high income economy. He said mindset change was critical to efficiency in service provision.

Deputy district commissioner, Mr Ewetse Selelo said the objective was to take services closer to the people was to ensure services were delivered to people in rural areas.

Letlhakane Police, station commander,  Mr Michael Maphephu said they had a child protection centre donated by UNICEF. The centre deals with criminal offences of children up to 18 year-olds, both as victims and perpetrators. He said it was opened with objective to provide a conducive environment for children to report cases.

Supt Maphephu said it was a child friendly centre with toys for children and had three member of staff. 

He urged parents to assist children to report cases, adding that they had also implored Department of Public Prosecutions to fast-track cases related to children. ends
