The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) says this year’s Global Expo Botswana will be an event to remember.
The BITC acting chief executive officer, Mr Letsebe Sejoe, told a media briefing in Gaborone on Monday, November 11 that the eighth edition of Global Expo Botswana would be enhanced to create greater value by the introduction of a two-day international investment and trade conference.
The expo will also see high profile international and industry speakers from South Africa, Mozambique and Kenya give lectures on various topics that relate to investment promotions.
These speakers would include Ms Bridgette Radebe, the executive chairperson of Mmakau Mining in South Africa, Mr Ian Mann, the director of Gateway Business Consultants, Mr Danilo Mussa Nala, the general director of Special Economic Zones Office in Mozambique under the Ministry of Planning and Development as well as Advocate Leslie Sedibe of the High Court of South Africa.
Mr Sejoe said there would also be an eight plenary session in mining, agriculture, branding of locally produced goods as well as financing services, just to mention a few. He explained that the focus in this year’s event is to promote investment opportunities. The objective is to offer exhibitors and visitors an opportunity to actually promote their businesses and products.
The other objective, he said, was to help Botswana to meet its targeted aim of attracting Foreign Direct Investment in order to stimulate inter-regional business and diversify the economy. The three-day expo, to be officially opened by Vice President Ponatshego Kedikilwe, starts on November 20. ENDS
