Special education learners receive toiletry

Members of Serowe Retired Nurses Society on Monday donated toiletry to Motetshwane Primary School in Serowe for distribution to children with special needs.
Handing the donation on Monday, chairperson of the society Ms Modiane Keatimilwe said members of the society contributed money to buy the toiletries.Ms Keatimilwe said parents of children with special needs required support and motivation, adding that the donation was one way of offering a helping hand to them so that they did not feel left out.
Receiving the donation, the school head Mr Ontiretse Kenaope thanked members of the society for their continuous support.
He said the donation would uplift the spirits of parents and motivate them not to lose hope in taking care of their children.
Mr Kenaope said their aim was to change mind-set to help people understand and appreciate that people living with disabilities could excel in life.
He said the school had an enrolment of 73 special education learners, with 45 boys and 28 girls who required more classes and specialised teachers.
For her part Motetshwane Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson, Ms Lefufa Nkoloi appreciated retired nurses for assisting students with disabilities
Ms Nkoloi said government alone could not succeed in improving the quality of life of people living with disabilities hence the need for collaborative effort.
She applauded the Association for its act of benevolence and compassion. Ends
