Challenges people experience in life could be a gateway to realising their own potential, according speakers at the Tatso Connekt event in Mogobane on Saturday.

Founder and artist of Art Lab also a content creator, Ms Loretta Mekgwe said she had to go through a rough phase in life to find her purpose and passion, which is art.

Ms Mekgwe said after losing her job as a media professional, she started painting and drew about 35 pieces, which was where she found herself and purpose and her Art Lab studio.

Sharing her story of ‘journey to return home to self’, Mindful Coach, Mother Masire said love and peace were the main ingredients in helping her to be where she wanted her mind to be.

She said it was imperative for one to be mindful of herself and the environment.

Ms Masire said she learnt to use her emotions as a guiding system, especially feelings that made her uncomfortable or upset.

She said she also learnt to slow down, because usually someone was at their best when they were calm, adding “What you are feeling activates your thoughts”.

The brains behind Tatso Connekt, Basadi Masimolole of Bash Connektor, who has  over 15 years marketing experience, said the objective of the Tatso Conneckt was to link people, experiences and brands.

“We are all about contributing towards amplifying brands and country messages through curating experiential offerings and ‘connekting’ conversations that matter, she said.

Masimolole said the session brought together women who did not know each other. 

She added that she was happy that the stories shared would help those who were battling with a lot in life. 

She said her ultimate goal was to have visual podcasts and empowerment connektor sessions in villages as part of cultural tourism and contributing towards the government's Remote Areas Development Programme.

She said the initiative would be  extended to men in future. ends
