J.P Kavindama celebrates first babies

J.P Kavindama Primary Hospital staff recently showered two babies and their mothers with gifts for being the first deliveries at the partially opened facility.
The two babies were born on October 27 with the first, a boy child named Person ‘J.P’ Dirunda born to 32-year-old mother Efa Dirunda of Mohebo West at 9:20am.
The second, a baby girl was named Jasmine ‘Nametso’ Akanyang. She was was born at around 5pm to 23-year-old Kebalebile Akanyang of Kajaja 1.
The hospital staff held a celebration event attended by some community leadership on Friday.
Speaking at the event, the facility’s chief medical officer Dr Kabo Tshiamo said the intention was to celebrate the babies who were the first children delivered at J.P Kavindama.
Dr Tshiamo said the maternity wing was the main component of the phase two opening of the primary hospital.
Nursing Superintendent, Ms Bonolo Mantsee, said the hospital staff and some members of the community contributed towards buying the hampers for the babies and their mothers.
Ms Mantsee said the staff was obligated to ensure patients were in good hands.
She encouraged the people of Okavango to utilize the state of the art facility especially the maternity wing.
J.P Kavindama Primary Hospital in Shakawe, named after the late Member of Parliament for Okavango Mr Joseph ‘Polaano’ Kavindama, has opened for some services such as counseling services, laboratory and maternity wing while the rest of services would open in 2023 in phase three. ENDs
