Addressing the new Archbishop, who is the fourh to be ordained, Cllr Tobokwani said a virtuous leader had good listening skills.
“A good leader listens diligently with caution to requests and advice from the congregants and other leaders working with him,” he said, adding that his role was to guide Pastors, Bishops, Deacons and other followers.
He also said he must exemplary to the congregation and the community, and should not look down upon anyone.
He advised the archbishop to reprimand without fear when the need arose.
He also reminded him that he was the servant of those under him and that he should serve them without taking sides.
Cllr Tobokwani noted that the new designation gave the archbishop the responsibility to take charge of all branches around the country equally.
He also advised him to establish different committees such as Gender Based Violence committees, social welfare committees and rehabilitation committees on drug abuse.
Giving a word of encouragement, Archbishop William Motshabi said some were born pastors, others did it as a calling while others decided to do the job and that their rewards came according to what they were doing.
For his part, Archbishop Gaoswediwe said leadership and administration brought hope to the congregation and he promised to perform his duties diligently .
He said his leadership would include consultations as well as reviving the church and establishing committees such as youth committees, Pastors Synod, Sunday schools, men and women’s committees and others.
He added that he would ensure that the church became visible all over the country.
Also in his plans is the introduction of youth empowerment structures.
Archbishop Gaoswediwe said he would work with them with the respect they deserved.
He called for support from fellow Christians in order to fulfil his obligation.
Kgosi Simon Nkgageng of Tati Siding commended the archbishop for his new appointment and encouraged churches to continue assisting in moulding youth who were at risk of alcohol, drug abuse and criminal activities.
He commended the church for appointing another Archbishop, which he said was a sign that there was a cordial working relationship in their ministry. ENDS
