Sjapi Toyota Hilux Club members have vowed dedication to support causes they are passionate about because doing so, affords them an opportunity to know their community better.
To them, volunteerism connects them with others, allows sharing of ideas and impacts lives positively.
The club recently donated food hampers to the less privileged members of community in Serowe and they are hoping to do better in future.
Chairperson, Mr Kenalemang Makwati, told BOPA that the club was formed in 2016 by men and women in Serowe who drove Toyota Hilux model.
The club’s mandate is to help those not fortunate in life with proceeds they get when engaged by others.
“Helping your community is an opportunity for you to grow as a person, to better understand how you fit into the world around you,” stated Mr Makwati.
He said they also assisted farmers to transport livestock to abattoirs or wherever they might wish to transport their stock to, get invited to parties, picnics, weddings and funerals at a reasonable charge.
The crew recently exhibited at gender based violence workshop held at Kokoro feedlot near Paje where they announced that anybody interested to join was welcome.
Mr Makwati stated that donating time to support those around them benefitted not only those they assisted but crew members as well.
It is statistically proven that people who volunteer regularly were healthier physically and mentally, stated Mr Makwati
The club’s disciplinary committee coordinator, Mr Molemisi Ramolapong said volunteerism gave people a sense of purpose and that nothing compared to contributing to society. Ends
